One of my favorite ways to spend an evening is snuggled up with cats, watching television with my Boo. For a child of the 1980s like me, having seemingly endless streaming content right at our fingertips still feels a little like magic. Afterall, I can still remember when there were only a handful of channels, and if I missed something live, I missed it.
We tend to watch mysteries, often from the UK, but really, if the story is compelling, I'm game. If the story is grounded in connection and is ultimately about well-being, it lands right in my guts.
A Man on the Inside landed right in my guts.
Ted Danson is Charles, a guy who's grieving the death of his beloved wife. Mary Elizabeth Ellis is Emily, his daughter who's worried about him and challenges him to find something that excites him. Lilah Richcreek Estrada is Julie, a private investigator who needs help with a case involving a missing necklace at a retirement home. Stephanie Beatriz is Didi, the manager of the retirement home. There's a whole cast of characters who live and work at the retirement home, as well as Emily's family, Julie's assistant, and Julie's client.
Many members of the feelings family showed up as we watched this story unfold, and I'm looking forward to Season 2.
A Man on the Inside is streaming on Netflix.
